    Reedbed design, creation and management for the minerals industry

    Date: 24 & 25 June (2 day course)

    Location: The Hanson-RSPB wetland project; Ouse Fen

    Cost: £140 plus vat (incl. complimentary copy of associated habitat management guide)

    Summary: This technical and interactive course, at the largest reedbed restoration site in the UK, will cover aspects of site restoration planning and design for reedbeds, including the early years of establishment and management.

    Suitability: For professionals employed within the minerals industry such as landscape architects, consultants, ecologists, estate/site managers. In addition, other land managers and their advisors, planners and conservation bodies concerned with the restoration of minerals extraction sites.

    Topics covered: Ecological requirements of key species & habitats; Best practice design for new reedbeds; Creation and landforming; Reed establishment and management; Planning , statutory and flight safeguard considerations; Ouse fen case study and site visits; Interactive workshop exercises and discussion.
