Dear All
I would like to preview an essential and easy-to-use guide to managing aggregates sites for wildlife.
Spring 2008 will see the publication of the first dedicated guidance on how to manage aggregates sites for bees, butterflies, beetles, spiders and other invertebrates.
This important new guide will include:
- practical advice on how to make space for wildlife in day-to-day operations
- easy steps for delivering Biodiversity Action Plan targets on sites both during and after extraction
- advice on maximising wildlife gain in restoration schemes
- information presented in both technical and non-technical documents for all stakeholders.
Key audiences: mineral planners, restoration or estates managers from industry, ecological consultants, statutory bodies, and non-governmental organisations.
For further information and to order your copy please contact me or visit our website (http://www.buglife.org.uk/conservation/currentprojects/bringingagsitestolife.htm). I will be attending some of the Nature After Minerals Events, and the Butterfly Conservation brownfields event in February 2008 - so you may be able to catch me there!
This project is supported by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund.
Best wishes
Andrew
